Introduction to the documentary – Ahmed and The Olive Tree
… as part of the introduction, it is important for the undersigned editor-in-chief to point out, that the documentary Ahmed and The Olive Tree – was filmed in the period 2016-2020, and therefore – the film was not intended to be a documentary to be produced, as a reaction to the attack by HAMAS against Israel on October 7, 2023.

… MVmdcc.com and ThePeoplePress.com does not seek to justify the killing of civilians by showing any of the warring parties’ acts of war against each other
… The documentary Ahmed and The Olive Tree is, in all its simplicity, a child’s testimony of how war affects and changes people, perhaps forever.
… And, the film is more than that, because it is also a film that shows – that cruelty to humans develops the victims and perpetrators of violence, so that they increasingly value human life more and more – … and not hate, as one would expect.
Ahmed and The Olive Tree is a very powerful cinematic narrative,
filmed and edited by professional filmmakers – in a sober and respectful way, so the documentary does not appear as a propaganda film
The documentary is filmed in Hebron … and follows the life and stories of Ahmed, a 13-year-old boy, in the context of what he sees, thinks and thus experiences in his everyday life – in Hebron.
The documentary is, as already mentioned, a testimony of life in Hebron, seen through the eyes of a young 13-year-old boy.

The film is therefore, – … obviously not an objective portrayal of the living conditions in Hebron, but rather an authentic portrayal of what a 13-year-old boy – feels, experiences and thinks, based on the culture, derived mentality and information he has been brought up with from his immediate family and friends. It is of course subjective, and therefore 13-year-old Ahmed, his outlook on life and his reflections, they are also subjective, but they are still Ahmed’s authentic way of living and experiencing and understanding his world, – … and it is the narrative premise of this documentary that we hear Ahmed’s story and see it visually rendered in different ways, through authentic film footage from Palestine.
────
When undersigned watched the movie, it was my experience – that it is a beautiful and important movie to show, so that people internationally, – … see and understand the world that you as a Palestinian young 13-year-old boy, experience and are affected by throughout your childhood, – and also much later affected by, in your adult life.
Because the movie is very professionally edited and with a narrative style that is calm and contemplative, the viewer of the movie is given the opportunity to think about what they see and experience.
A narrative style that I appreciate because it shows respect for the film’s story, but also shows respect for the viewer and their need – to be treated as an intelligent, reflective and empathetic human being, with a desire to have time to reflect – and take care of their own opinions, values and integrity.
